I’ve recently moved into a gorgeous new apartment with James in the centre of Leeds and we couldn’t love it more!
To celebrate moving in, we had the mother of all house parties reminiscent of our Uni days, complete with killer punch, drinking games and debauchery, but we also wanted to do something a little special and host a dinner party for some of our nearest and dearest.
That’s when I found out about La Belle Assiette, a private chef dining service that allows you to sit back and relax while a chef buys all the ingredients, cooks a delicious four course meal for you and your guests and then clears it all up afterwards!
Delicious food without having to lift a finger? Yes please!
And so, a week later the wonderful Chef Miranda was at our home and prepping a four course menu for our first official dinner party. She arrived with several bags of ingredients as well as her own beautiful crockery, as our tragic collection of a mere 6 Ikea plates weren’t exactly ideal for serving four courses of fine cuisine.
So while we kicked back and watched a film, Chef Miranda began preparing our Sunday dinner. The menu included:
Fig, toasted pecan nut, rocket and blue cheese salad.
Watercress Veloute and sourdough croutons
Rack of Yorkshire Lamb with Dauphinoise, pea and mint purée and a red wine jus.
Dark chocolate and almond brownie with crème fraîche and fruit coulis.
The smells from the kitchen during Sunday afternoon were almost too much to bear! So I was thrilled when my friends finally arrived at 7pm and we were able to sit down and begin to enjoy our meal. After a toast, Chef Miranda began to plate up our appetiser course and so the dinner party commenced…
Each course was met with ooh’s and ahh’s of delight. My amazement came not only from how excellent the quality of each dish was, but how Chef Miranda had managed to create such miracles in our teeny tiny kitchen with our even smaller collection of pots and pans! None of my guests had any particular dietary requirements, however having a private chef with La Belle Assiette makes catering for anyone that does incredibly easy.
This is good news for vegetarians, who dread the thought of being greeted with a soggy mushroom risotto as the veggie option at dinner parties.
Chef Miranda was highly professional, polite and a truly excellent cook. If you live in the Yorkshire area and are planning a special evening then I absolutely recommend her for the perfect dinner party.
